BIO:  Grace came from a breeder in North Carolina when she wanted to retire her. Grace only has part of her tail, reason unknown. She is the friendliest of all three from this breeder. She will need time to get used to being in a home, your home, so you must be willing to be patient and expect accidents until she learns house manners.

Our must haves for this gorgeous girl include:

  • A fenced yard
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • Someone who is home a lot to help her adjust from being a breeder to a pet
  • Another small, adult dog to learn from
  • Kids over age 10 will probably be okay as long as they know how to respect a dog's space and don't scare her

If you have the patience or experience with breeder dogs and their issues, and you meet the rest of our requirements, then please consider this sweet girl for your home. She wants to be loved!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
