BIO UPDATE (3/13/2021):  Callie has been in her foster home for almost a month. She has blossomed into quite the little social butterfly! Callie really enjoys the outdoors and on sunny days, she can be found lying on her back with her little feet in the air enjoying the sun. If she is inside, she is in her bed playing with her toys and making tunnels in her favorite blanket.

Callie loves to cuddle up in the recliner with her foster dad for naps. She sleeps in the big bed at night, but she would be fine in her bed (I just like having her in the bed with me). Callie is blind but she has quickly learned to navigate her way through our house.  

Because of neglect, AADR was forced to have most of her teeth removed so Callie is fed soft food. She is currently receiving daily eye drops. She will see an eye specialist to determine if the drops will be a lifetime requirement. 

We are very honest about our dogs at AADR since we want our dogs to be adopted into forever families. If you have any questions about this precious pup, please contact her foster family. BIO:  Callie came from a family in East Tennessee who took her to the vet to be euthanized. Thankfully, the vet refused and got them to sign her over to them and they then reached out to us. She had a urinary tract infection and she has SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome), which caused her blindness.

Please do not let the fact that she is blind scare you away from this sweet girl. She finds her way around the house and the yard just fine. She will even play a little with one of the younger fosters we have and she likes to cuddle with them in a doggie bed and guess what... if you put a blanket in her doggie bed, she’ll work until she has herself covered up. So sweet!

Our must-haves for her include:

• A fenced yard is a must
• Hopefully, another small dog in case you have to be gone for a portion of the day
• No apartments or high rises
• The patience to help her learn your home and fenced yard

Callie has very thin fur due to natural baldness. For that reason, we want to see her stay in the South because she does get cold since she has little fur to keep her warm. So, we're looking for a home for her in Florida, South Georgia, or South Carolina, please. You won’t go wrong with this little girl and she’ll give you a ton of love in return for a warm bed and good food!

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
