ROXY came in with DENTON and another dachshund that already has a home. We think ROXY came from a puppymiller cause she very shy and will need to be socialized. She is fine with me but doesn't really care for my husband. She has learned to use the puppy pads but DOES NOT like to go out into the room with all the other dogs so we know she has lead a very sheltered life. We want to experience all the things that a normal dog has experienced so she will need someone willing to work with her and get her socialized to people and new experiences. She would also do best with another dog, male or female it wouldn't matter. We think she would also be fine with small children as long as they are kind to her and not mean or rough. Cats would be fine too. You can tell she just wants to be loved but she's afraid to take that first step. She is very submissive but we don't think she's been abused just not socialized. If you are interested in a challange please contact us and fill out an app for this sweet sweet girl.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog plesae go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.

Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
