BEING FOSTERED IN MIDDLE INDIANA.........
Picked up as a stray by animal control in SC. We were happy when they called us to come get this little boy. He is a real sweetheart and loves to give kisses and be loved on. He loves to play with the other fosters here in SC. He is doing well with the doggie door but will continue to need work on housetraining but he's eager to please. He is UTD on all shots and on Interceptor and Frontline. If you'd like a young boy to keep your other doxie company, this is the boy. He's sweet and loves to play but will settle down and cuddle with them as well. We do see that he is food aggressive so will need to be fed separate from the other dogs.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
