BIO UPDATE (8/20/2019):  An update on Honor from her foster mom:  Since arriving at her foster home Honor has developed quite a Diva personality.  She now talks to me like I am her personal assistant, letting me know her every need like when she is ready to get in the big bed or maybe she needs more water in her bowl, and just today she let me know I was spending too long in the bathroom and insisted I let her in.  Honor is a real love bug and enjoys spending time with her people.  She is not a one-person dog but spreads her love freely.  In all honesty, Honor is a great dog.  She just needs a family of her own!

BIO:  Honor came from southern GA along with another female dachshund and now that Honor is all vetted, she’s looking for a home.  She does great with other small dogs and is just a happy, happy girl!

She must have a fenced yard because she loves being outside and smelling all the smells that can be out there.  She has a high prey drive so she'll need a home without cats or rodents.  She would love to have another dog for company if you have to leave home.  We don’t know why she ended up in the shelter, but we are so glad we pulled her.

If you are interested in a sweet girl with a lot of energy and a desire to be your friend, then please apply for her today... she’s ready for her furever home!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
