BIO: Jake came from East TN when his owner developed dementia so severe that his owner could no longer care for him.

Jake is a sweet dog, a little scared at first and can you blame him? His world has been turned upside down but within a couple hours, he was fine. He just didn’t know what was going on when he was first brought into rescue.

He gets along with other dogs and cats and does great with a doggie door. He might need a refresher on going to the door to be let out but he’s eager to please. And he loves lap time! A fenced yard is a must.

Can you bring your heart to give this sweet boy his last forever home so he won’t have to be rehomed again?

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
