BIO: ****MUST have a fenced in yard. Needs another YOUNG dog in the household.****
Just look at that face, what is she saying to you?
Ginger came in with another little girl from NC where they were being sold on Facebook for a little money. They were kept outside except in “extreme weather”. With that being said, we can’t imagine this poor little girl being kept outside in the cold of winter or the heat of summer. When she came in she was very scared and shy and when she goes to her final forever home, she may regress a little but she has done so well after the first week here. Her tail wags ALL the time and she really does want human attention. She gets along with all the other dogs at the halfway house, but we don’t know about cats.
She must have a fenced-in yard because she is not leash trained. If the home has children they must be older because running and screaming would scare her. She will need someone that is willing to work with her to become social so just don’t apply because she’s tiny and cute, apply because you really do want to help her be the pet she can be. Also, she’ll need to be with another dog because she always has been and would probably have separation anxiety if she is an only dog.
Foster mom is going to be very picky where this little girl goes because I promised her that from now on her life would be sunshine and roses and I won’t let her down.
=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
