BIO:
Hi everyone! I am Marley and I was rescued in Knoxville, TN. I am a 5 year old smooth coat black and tan miniature Dachshund. In my former life, I lived with the same family from when I was 8 weeks old. About a year and a half ago they had a baby, who I got along with ok, but we were not trained to leave each other alone, so my former owners decided they did not want me anymore. My former owners told AADR that they were going to take me out back and “shoot” me if I wasn’t rescued, needless to say I am happy I was rescued.
I am thriving in my foster home! My foster mom and dad cannot believe how well behaved I am. I am fully potty trained and crate trained. I like to play fetch with the ball (I will eat the little ones up in minutes though) and love to snuggle on a warm lap. I have an extremely sweet disposition and good with both men and women. I do like to sleep in the big bed, but I understand that I may not be able to in my forever home and I am ok with that too. I get along with the other Dachshunds and the kitty cats they have and I am not a barker. My foster mom even brought her niece (5/yo) and nephew (2/yo) over to really see how well I do with kids, since they know how to behave around small dogs, I did great with them.
I am looking for a furever home of my own. I am really good at walking on the leash, but prefer having a fenced in yard. I think it would be better if my furever home did not have small children, but I think I would be fine with older children. While I have a little bitty heart murmur, it does not slow me down and I am completely healthy. I run and play fetch and have all kinds of fun in my foster home. Do you want to be my furever family? If so, email my foster mom Teresa at iteresa13@gmail.com.
=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
