Hi my name is Jam and I came from Boaz AL when my owner decided he didn’t want me any more after I’d made him some money giving him puppies so off we went, me and 6 other dogs to the animal control, lucky for us the shelter sent us to the vet clinic where they contacted a rescue person (whatever that means) and we found ourselves in this wonderful place, no crates no cages just laps and good food and doggie beds galore!! It did take a while for us to pinch ourselves and realize it was not a dream and realize this was the real deal. Since then we have been enjoying the real life. We get great food and we can go in and out the “doggie door” any time we like but we sure do like this inside, air conditioned house!
We get along with all the other doggies at the “foster” home but we don’t know what a cat is! We also don’t know what a “leash” is but we are happy to grace your lap with our presence and keep it warm. Could you see it in your heart to give me a forever home since I’ve never known one? I promise I’ll be good and I won’t be any trouble but could I ask one little favor? Could you please give me a fenced in yard and another buddy to be with so I can learn the ropes? Well I guess that’s two favors but is that too much to ask? Thank you for looking at me and choosing me I’m sure you won’t be sorry.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
