BIO

Ginger Ale came from a small shelter in Anniston, AL. We were asked if we would take her to find her a home. Ginger Ale (great name!) is a little shy in new situations but once she gets used to her surroundings, she is fine. One thing we do know is she LOVES to be outside and most times we’ll find her outside just laying in the grass, and for that reason she must go to a home with a fenced-in yard, no exceptions. She loves the freedom of a doggie door but the fenced-in yard is a must. She gets along with all her foster brothers and sisters and is fine with cats!  We do think she would do best with another younger dog to play with.  If you have what she’s looking for by having a fenced-in yard and another dog, then please don’t wait any longer - get your application in asap because this beautiful girl will not be available long! We want her to have the loving forever home that she so richly deserves….are you that home?

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
