BIO:  Hi everyone, my name is Heidi... I'm really new to this so I hope you understand if I don't get all my details correct. I am one of three born on 5/5/2013. My mommy gave us love and care for the last eight weeks. We moved the other day. We had a great ride with some really nice people and now we are in our Foster Home with Kathy and David. This is a cool place! I brother, sister and I share our own little castle. I have lots of toys and a soft comfy bed!  I have a BIG foster brother and a BIG foster sister. I really like them and I think they like me!!  I have a great fenced-in area where I get to go outside. For some reason, Mommy and Daddy are really happy when we go to the bathroom in our outdoor area...I even got extra love and a treat! Right now my day is pretty simple, I sleep, eat, play and go outside... I am really petite but that doesn’t slow me down. I love to run and give great kisses. I wrestle with my big brother when he comes after me.  I am a cuddle-bug and like to sit on the couch in Daddy's lap. I love having my tummy rubbed!  Mommy said that someday soon, a really nice person/family will want to give me a “furever” home. She said I would get lots of love and have a great life. Would you consider giving me a nice home?? Please call my Mommy and Daddy if you can. Hope to hear from you!

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Heidi #2...MD

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
