BIO:

Hello my name is Ginger.

My foster mom tells everyone I am a sweetheart, lovie and wonderful, wonderful dog. I am full of energy. From the moment I got here everyone made me feel right at home. Settled in very fast.

I love to play with her dogs. They are male and female, age wise I fit right between them. We play great together, and maybe a little loud sometimes for my foster mom, but she just lets us go on playing. If we’re too loud, then we’re swished outside, where we can really romp and play.  Just love being outside with everyone.

Oh and kids, well they just love me and to be honest I love them a whole lot too!!!! They are anywhere from all ages of 1 and up to 10. I play with them, I lay with them, go outside with them and also they walk me, great fun!!!!!!

I have a crate which I sleep in at night time, and if things get to hectic or when I am tuckered out will go in and lay down too.

I am house broken but pay attention I don’t bark when needing to go out, just stand by the door patiently waiting.

My foster home is very, very busy. Lots of people in and out, of the house I do bark specially those I do not see a lot.

Last thing, I also right now live with 3 cats, yep 3 of them. I wasn’t sure about these 4 legged things that hiss, but their pretty awesome too, just don’t run from me or the games on. We even have been known to lay together. Oh did I mention the African Grey Parrot?? Sammy, he is 5 and he can even drive me crazy, he mimics me perfectly. He’s been out around me but quite honestly he intimidates me.

Thank you for taking an interest in me, and please should you have any questions, ask my foster mom. She will be soooo happy to talk with you.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
