BIO:

You want to talk gorgeous long hair that would be BEN. He came out of a MO puppymill and has a little time to adjust to being a pet but still needs more time. He is learning more every day that there is nothing to fear here but still needs to be rewarded with treats when he over comes his fears. He is doing well with the doggie door and is fine in a crate but will need work on walking on a leash. His reaction is to freeze when there is something that he’s afraid of but we’ve taken him to several events where people have handled him, picked him up and petted him and he did just fine. He has no fear aggression, just needs to be socialized and given time to be a pet. He’s been completely vetted including a dental where he lost no teeth. We think he is younger than the 4-6 yrs they told us he was from the look of his teeth when we got him and his desire to want to play with some of the other fosters here. Do you want to give Ben a chance at a new life, you won’t be sorry and he’ll give you years of love and devotion.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
