BIO:

Look at this sweet little red headed baby girl!  She is only 8 years young and has a tiny frame weighing in at only 8 pounds.  Ruby would love to find a family that is searching for a lap dog.  She isn’t real active and enjoys lounging around all day.  She prefers to be right by your side.  She does however enjoy walks on a leash, but is perfectly happy just walking around in our fenced yard and rolling around on her back!  She is also quiet for a dachshund, as she doesn’t bark much.  Ruby also loves sleeping in the big bed and sleeps all night and probably all day if you would let her!  She is doing well with her potty training.  Ruby was surrendered by a family that wanted to give her a better home than they could. Ruby didn’t have a good life before they got her. She’d lived outside in a pen with two other dogs when they rescued her.  I think a retired couple would be perfect for Ruby.  Ruby has a sweet gentle nature and we want to see the remaining years of her life filled with love.   If you can do that for her she will reward you with years of devotion and companionship.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
