ROMEO2 has a very sad story to tell. He was living happily in AL and then his mom and daddy had a big fight and each packed their bags and just moved BUT they didn't take ROMEO2. They just up and left him to run wild and run wild he did for a whole month. Finally animal control was called and with a tranquilizer gun they were finally able to catch him. Needless to say he's scared at first but he does warm up to you if you take the time and have the patience to win him over. He is a very sweet, sweet boy with no aggression issues at all!! He gets along with all the fosters here and even likes to play with some of them. He will need someone that knows this boy some day will be a diamond but right now he's in the rough and just needs to be polished. Please find it in your heart to have the time and patience to give this boy the help and love that he needs. He is doing very well with the doggie door and does like to go outside in the fenced in yard.
More about ROMEO2....FL
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
