GINGER Z-13 loves to go for car rides, she rides to work with me to my shop and gets so excited when she gets to go. So she would be great if someone travels a lot or you want a dog to take with you on trips. also a fenced yard and another dog to keep her company would be best.
Ginger is very loving and the perfect lap dog. She is a puppy mill survivor and hasn't really experienced anything before she came to live with me. She now knows what grass is and loves how it feels as she drags her belly across it. She has come a long way in the short time that i have had her but she is still very shy with people who she doesn't know at first. She has never experienced any time with children. So I can not say if she should be in a home with them or not. Ginger has been introduced to cats and is learning to socialize great. She is wonderful with other dogs and is starting to open up, let loose, and play. House training is going great with the exception of a couple accidents. She does not potty in her crate at night when she sleeps. Ginger is beautiful and deserves a good loving family that will love on her anytime.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
