BIO:  Hi folks! My AKC name is Louie’s Hezekiah, but you can just call me Zeke. I am a breeder surrender/retiree which is why I have such a formal name. I helped make some beautiful babies before I was retired! BTW, my color and coat are drop-dead GORGEOUS! Some people mistake me for a yellow lab puppy since you don’t see many cream-colored smooth coat doxies walking around.

I have been in my foster home a short time, but am loving FL, my foster sibs (2 females and 1 male), and the fenced yard. I sure hope someone in a Southern state wants to adopt me since I’ve already done several transports coming into rescue. I like riding in a car, but enough’s enough! LOL

My wish list for my forever home includes:

  • A fenced yard attached to your home (non-negotiable)
  • I’ll be fine as an only dog if you’re home a lot. I LOVE to be with my person! But if you work all day then I’d like another small dog to hang with. I’ve always had other dogs with me my whole life.
  • No apartments or high-rises
  • PLEASE, oh please, can I sleep in the BIG bed?!?!

My foster mom will continue to update my bio as I settle into her home, but she already knows I’m one AWESOME pup! Oh, BTW, I did lose all my teeth at my recent dental, but I’m doing great eating soft food… and I’ll never need another dental. That will save you some big bucks! LOL

Email my foster mom if you have a specific question. She wants the perfect adopter for me because I am going to be a terrific companion for the right family!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
