NAME........................................NASH DACHSHUND.........................PURE/TWEENIE COAT........................................SMOOTH COLOR....................................RED AGE...........................................4-6 YRS GENDER.................................MALE/NEUTERED WEIGHT...................................12-13 LBS ADOPTION FEE.......................150.00+10.00 chip fee contact Diane at nashcat50us@yahoo.com NASH was found in NW AL wandering with several other dogs. A very kind soul stop her car and finally got this boy. She took him right to the vet's for vetting. He had been in a fight it looked like and got some wounds from that but the worst part was the at some time in the past he had his leg broken and someone had taken him to the vet and had a pin put in the broken leg but they never took him back to have it taken out so now he has a leg that WILL NOT function. It won't bend, it's locked up. I took him to my vet and he said that they might be able to perform surgery on it but there is no guarntee that he'll be able to use it after surgery so he suggested that if it's not bothering him and he's gotten used to getting around with out it to leave it the way it is. He is not in pain and gets along and around on three legs as well as the ones here with 4 legs but for that reason we have to list him as a "special needs" boy. Please do not let his bum leg steer you away from this boy. He's as sweet as can be and loves to sleep in your lap and sleep in the big bed. I'd say no on "cats and small children" but older kids would be great he'd love to crawl in there lap too. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

More about NASH.....SC

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
