BIO: Rocky was surrendered by an ill owner from Alabama.  Rocky can't seem to understand why he's being overlooked by so many. He is happy, has energy for an active family and gets along with other dogs, at night he just wants to cuddle on the couch with you and won't even ask to get in the big bed if you say "no".

He is house broken to a doggie door and if in a confined area, if you can't make it home in time then he'll use a puppy pad. Rocky is probaby one of the most perfect fosters I've had in a while so he doesn't understand why he's being over looked. Can you help him and agree to be his new family?

Rocky is a happy guy and loves everyone except puppies, he doesn’t like their energy but is fine with dogs his age or older.  He doesn’t mind playing, he just doesn’t want puppies in his face.  We do not know about cats but we are guessing “no”.  A fenced yard and another dog to play with are must haves, and he loves his people!!

If you are looking for a happy boy who loves all, is just happy for the attention, and loves to give love, then Rocky is your boy!  Don’t miss out... get your application in and when we get you approved, he’ll be ready to “come home”.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
