BIO (12/3/2018): Are you looking for a sweet, happy snuggle bug to add to your family? If so, Emily might be the girl for you! She does not hear well and her vision is not perfect, but her heart is full of love and she is as happy as can be. She came to her Foster Home and made herself at home right away. She will bounce on her hind legs when she wants to be picked up and put on the couch with you. We are working with her to use the ramp instead. Emily loves meal time and to snuggle up with you and the other fur babies under a blanket on the couch. She will sleep peacefully in her crate until you come home or in her dog bed through the night. I have no doubt she would love to sleep in the big bed as well. Emily is fine with other dogs, both male and female, and with cats too. She likes to lick the kitty!
Emily is a dog you cannot help but to fall in love with! She will be your shadow and your heart and we are looking for an exceptional home that will love her for the rest of her life. Please contact the Foster Home at decollinss@aol.com with any questions and read about the adoption process at https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/info/display?PageID=2944

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
