BIO:  Natalie is a lover.  She takes time to warm up to you and when she does, she wants to be with you 24/7.  She would be a Velcro dog if you let her. She’s a very sweet little girl.

Natalie’s owner passed away in her home with Natalie and her fur siblings present.  Her owner’s brother found them after a day or two and got her to us.  Natalie is naturally anxious when she first meets you because her world has been turned completely upside down!   This little girl has some separation anxiety and must have someone who is home most of the time.

She has a foster brother and mostly ignores him but might like another Dachshund or small dog to play or curl up with.  Her canine foster brother is 4 times her size and much older.  He would like to be friends but Natalie’s not sure about him.  She was unsure of her feline foster brother at first, but is fine with him now.

Natalie loves being warm.  She had never seen very much snow so when she arrived in Michigan during a big storm she got an eye full!  She didn’t know what to do with the 10+ inches on the ground and decided to leave it alone.  She must to go to a home in the southern part of the country - she came from Georgia.

Natalie is working on regaining her “girlish figure.”  She’s eating special diet food which she doesn’t much like.  She needs plenty of play time to get to and maintain a healthy weight.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
