Bio:

Miranda is a beautiful little girl that is learning how to be loved and cared for.  She came to the rescue with some siblings and she came to our home to be fostered.  We have another foster and three dachshunds of our own that she is having fun learning how to play with.  Miranda was very timid and afraid the first couple days but has really warmed up to the other dogs as well as to us.  She is still shy around other people but will warm up pretty fast.

Miranda needs someone to love her and keep her safe.  She will need to have a home with a fenced yard.  It is best for her to go to a home with another young dog to play with, but it would also be okay for her to be the only dog with a retired person(s) or someone that is home most of the time.

She is doing really well with potty training.  As we are in Wisconsin and have a fenced yard, leash training is not being done.  She is very smart so I don't see an issue with that.  She does go in the crate but will cry first as she really wants to be with you or the other dogs.

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
