BIO (6/18/16): Looking for a tiny bundle of love?  Here he is ... Hunter #3!!! This adorable little guy was adopted from ADDR when he was 6 months old ... now 6 1/2 YEARS later, he has been returned because his owner failed to understand that adopting a puppy (especially a doxie puppy) is a 15-17 YEAR commitment. Hunter has only been here a few days, but is adjusting well.  He has the most beautiful copper red coat I’ve ever seen!  He has HUGE dark brown eyes that look at you with the most inquisitive expression.  He’s a charmer for sure!

If you’d like a small traveling companion, Hunter is your guy.  He melted a lot of hearts on his transport from TN to FL.  Stay tuned for more updates as Hunter becomes a member of the pack here in Sarasota.  BTW, he gets along beautifully with the five other doxies in the household ... male and female.  He loves to be near you and adores cuddling in the BIG bed, too.

Want more details?  Fill out an application from the left-hand column of our website http://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/  then you can contact foster mom Meg:   meg1709@comcast.net

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Hunter number 3.....FL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
