BIO:
Chief may be a little bitty guy, but he is definitely the “top dog” in his foster home. No other pup plays harder, sleeps sounder, runs faster or loves his chow more than Chief. He power plays, then power naps. Although a little shy at first, he warms up quickly. Chief likes to ride in the car, sleep in the big bed, and be outside. He is learning to walk on a leash and is working on his potty skills. His house training is coming along but he still has accidents. He would do well as an only pet but he also enjoys the company of other pups. Chief is looking for someone to play, snuggle and be his friend for life.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
