Roane (NS#1099) is a short little blue male, born around June 1, 2011. We believe his father was an Australian Shepherd, and his mother was a Dachshund or Miniature Dachshund. He is a short little power house of a boy!
Roane is quite full of himself, but he settles very well. He gets along with cats and other dogs, and he loves to cuddle when play time is over. He is quite intelligent, and is already crate and potty trained. He handles the doggie door pretty well even though he is vertically challenged. Roane also loves the water, if there's a puddle, he's in it! If you are interested in making Roane a part of your family, please visit www.ns4ar.org and fill out an adoption application today!
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
