BIO (5/22/2018):  Elsa Rose comes into rescue from Michigan after her past owner surrendered her.  She is so full of energy and loves to run and play.  For these reasons we are making a fully fenced yard a MUST for her.  She would love to have another dog around her age to run and play with, but she would also be a perfect only dog as well.  Elsa has a bionic tongue, so when she starts giving you kisses, watch out, she won't stop!

She does know how to use a doggy door and hasn't had any accidents on the floor.  She walks wonderfully on a leash, although she does have the tendency to tug a little, therefore a harness is a must.  She has gotten along with her two dachshund foster brothers very well.  We have not had her exposed to big dogs but cats are definitely out of the question.  She does not like them at all.  Due to her high energy, if her new home has children in it, they MUST be 10+ years of age and be respectful of small dogs.

Elsa Rose will make you so happy and she is sure to put a huge smile on your face!  She would love to be your new best friend!  If you have any questions about this little girl, please contact us at the foster’s email address.  We’d love to tell you all about her!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Playful, Affectionate

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
