BIO: Ozzy came from a shelter in East Tennessee when his family no longer wanted him. Why? Well, we certainly can’t figure that out. He is probably one of the most perfect fosters I’ve had in a long time!
Ozzy does not bark, he’s good with cats (ignores them), is housetrained (but could always regress for a while at a new home), and likes your lap or is happy in a doggie bed. Why in the world would you not want this sweet boy? He follows you from room to room but is fine if left alone. We think he could be an only dog very easily.
We say Ozzy needs a fenced yard because if you are out working in the yard, he’d like to be right with you and we know that a dachshund should never be allowed off leash.
Ozzy is just waiting for you to see his inner beauty and what he can bring to your life: loyalty, love and devotion. Don’t wait, he’ll be gone in a heartbeat!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
